7. Tension the draper. Locate adjuster bolt (A) and follow
the directions on the decal for the proper draper
tensioning or refer to 5.12.3 Checking and Adjusting
Side Draper Tension, page 420.
8. Disengage the reel and header safety props.
9. Start the engine and lower the header and reel.
10. Run the machine to verify the draper tracks correctly. If
adjustment is necessary, refer to 5.12.4 Adjusting Side
Draper Tracking, page 422.
5.12.7 Replacing Draper Deflectors
Removing Narrow Draper Deflectors
DANGER
To avoid bodily injury or death from unexpected start-up or fall of a raised machine, always stop engine
and remove key before leaving the operators seat, and always engage safety props before going under
the machine for any reason.
1. Raise the reel to its full height and lower the header to the ground.
2. Shift the decks to create a work space at one end of the header if hydraulic deck shift is installed; otherwise,
move the decks manually after shutting down the combine.
3. Stop the engine, remove the key, and engage the reel safety props.

4. Open the endshield. Refer to Opening Endshield, page

5. Remove two Torx
®
head screws (A) and lock nuts.
6. Remove three carriage bolts (B) and lock nuts and
remove aft deflector (C).
