1. In general, the MAC address is programmed on the management board or the chassis flash. In
virtual switching unit (VSU) mode, the system saves the MAC address in use in the configuration
file to avoid flow interruption caused by MAC address change. The valid MAC address saved in
the configuration file validates in preference after the device is restarted,
2. The MAC address of the gateway may be bound on some downstream devices. If the system is
configured with the auth-mode gateway command, you can use the sysmac command to
replace the MAC address of the gateway without changing the MAC address configuration on the
downstream devices.
3. The configuration takes effect after the device is restarted.
The following example deletes the MAC address saved in the configuration file.
