FOREWORD 1
MHL360 E 1.1
1 Foreword
1.1 General information
These operating instructions have been writ-
ten for the machine operator and machine
maintenance personnel. They help operators
to familiarize themselves with the machine
and to avoid malfunctions caused by improper
operation.
The operating instructions contain important
information about how to use the machine
safely, properly and economically. Compli-
ance with the operating instructions will help
avoid hazards, increase reliability in applica-
tion and extend the service life of the ma-
chine. Repair costs and downtimes will thus
be reduced.
Information about applicable national re-
quirements for accident prevention needs to
be added to the operating instructions. In ad-
dition to the operating instructions and binding
regulations for accident prevention in the
country and specific location where the ma-
chine is used, recognized technical rules for
safe and professional working must also be
followed.
1.2 Intended use
The loading machine MHL360 E is intended
solely for work which is suited to the function
of the machine and its work attachment. Such
work involves:
loading
moving
shifting
of goods such as scrap and used metal, chips
and bulk materials (e.g. grain and sand), and
various types of recycling materials. The cor-
responding work attachments for this are:
clamshell and cactus grabs
magnets
load hooks
sorting grabs
hydraulic shears
When mounting work attachments (provided
by outside suppliers), the proper use of such
attachments as stated by their manufacturers
must be observed.
Given their experience in and knowledge of
working with the respective handling goods,
operators and machine operators should
check whether the loading machine is suitable
for the task in hand. The dealer responsible
should be contacted if in doubt. Before using
the machine for timber handling, consult the
manufacturer.
Compliance with the operating instructions,
the performance of maintenance work as
specified, adherence to maintenance intervals
and the use of the prescribed fuels, lubricants
and coolants all form part of the concept of
proper use.
The diesel engine and exhaust system are
subject to national certification regulations.
The operator must ensure proper mainte-
nance and that the prescribed fuels, lubricants
and coolants are used. The diesel engine, its
system components, and the exhaust system
must not be modified. All intervening mainte-
nance actions must be carried out by author-
ized service personnel of the engine manufac-
turer or personnel appointed by the manufac-
turer.

Attention
The operating temperature at which the machine
may be used with standard fuels, lubricants and
coolants is within the range from -15 °C to
+45 °C.
On operating sites with lower temperatures we
recommend engine preheating (coolant) and
hydraulic oil fluid preheating. This makes the
machine ready for use within a shorter space of
time and thus prolongs its service life.
Information concerning fuels, lubricants, and
coolants for temperatures below -15°C:
