7.7.15 Changing axle and transmission oil
h Filling quantities, oil quality, and oil change
intervals: Chapter 7.3 Fuels, lubricants and

inspection plan, Chapter 7.2.3 Regular oil
analyses
Change the axle oil at operating tempera-
ture
Collect old oil with a suitable reser-
voir. Do not allow them to seep into
the ground or water! Give to an au-
thorized waste disposal company to
dispose of in an environmentally-
friendly manner.
After filling the axles with oil, move the machine
for approx. 5 minutes in order to ensure that the
oil is distributed. Check the oil level again and
top up if necessary.
7.7.15.1 Front axle differential
The steering axle's wheel hubs and axle casings
(differentials) have separate oil chambers.
Checking the axle oil level
►
Remove the check and filler plug (319/1),
check and top up with oil if necessary.
Changing axle oil
►
Park the machine on level ground.
►
Apply the parking brake.
►
Open the check and filler plug (319/1).
►
Open the drain plug (319/2) on the differ-
ential and drain oil.
►
Flush out the axle if necessary.
►
Carefully close the drain plug (319/2).
►
Fill with oil through the check and filler plug
(319/1) up to the bottom edge of the bore.

Carefully close the check and filler plug.
