7.7.6 Checking and adjusting valve lash
Valve lash must be tested according to the
operating instructions provided by the diesel
engine manufacturer, and adjusted if neces-
sary.
7.7.7 Belt drives
h Replace as described in chapter 7.6.4
Maintenance and inspection plan.
j WARNING
Danger of injury due to rotating
parts
Belts should be checked and
tightened only when the diesel
engine is stopped.
Secure the engine against being
started without authorization.
In an emergency: Administer first
aid, seek treatment from a doctor.
7.7.7.1 General
If a belts exhibits tears or if it is contaminated
with oil, coolant, grease etc., it must be re-
placed.
Perform check using the operating instruc-
tions of the diesel engine manufacturer.
ATTENTION
On belt drives with no tensioning pulley, use a
gauge to check the belt tension.
