7.2.4 Welding
Injuries from fire or explosion
• Welding work must only be per-
formed by appropriately trained
and authorized service personnel
• Remove combustible materials
• Clean the area around the weld
• Ensure adequate ventilation
• Keep fire extinguishing equip-
ment handy
In an emergency: Administer first
aid, seek treatment from a doctor
Welding, burning, and grinding work must
only be performed on the machine if it has
been explicitly approved by the manufacturer.
Clean the machine and the area around it of
dust and combustible materials before weld-
ing, burning or grinding.
Arc welding
Damage to the control units.

Remove the battery isolator switch (249/1).
►
Disconnect the positive terminal and place
the cable lead on the adjacent grounding
bolt.
►
Unplug the plug connections (250/1) on the
engine control unit.
►
Unplug the plug connections (251/1) on the
central electrical system.
►
For arc welding, move the ground point to
the immediate vicinity of the welding point.
►
To connect the battery, proceed in the op-
posite order. Do not switch the battery iso-
lating switch back on until the end.
