5.18 Parking the loading machine
Danger of injury due to uncon-
trolled machine movements
• Only park the machine on level
and solid ground.
• Maintain parking position
In an emergency: Administer first
aid, seek treatment from a doctor
Parking position
Uppercarriage longitudinally aligned with
respect to the undercarriage.
Move the cab back to its home position
Dipperstick in a vertical position.
Grab down on the ground in an open posi-
tion. Grab tips on plates to protect the
ground.
Outrigger retracted for standard stabilizer
plates, if using enlarged stabilizer plates
(optional), placed on the ground (fig. 166).
Procedure
Lower work attachment carefully because the
ground can be damaged by the mass of the
loading equipment.

Lower the loading equipment to the
ground.
►
Switch on the parking brake button toggle
(167/54) and release the service brake
(167/9).
►
Switch the swing brake button toggle
(167/55) on, or, alternatively, press the but-
ton toggle on the left-hand four-way control
lever (167/44/).
The swing brake is not a dynamic
brake. Activate the "Swing brake"
push-button only with the swing as-
sembly at standstill!
