DESCRIPTION
A veh icle t heft a lar m wit h a ba tter y powered siren
is a vailable as a n option and includes interior moni-
toring, a nti-tow awa y protect ion an d rear win dow
monitoring ba sed on t he heat er wires. The alarm is
automatically activat ed when the cent ral lockin g sys-
tem is oper ated.
The alarm will sound when any of th e following
occur:
• A door is open ed
• A door is unlocked from inside t he vehicle
• Th e hood is opened
• Th e veh icle is ra ised at th e front or r ear
• Th e trailer wire har ness is discon nected
• Movements inside t he vehicle
• Th e central locking is u nlocked by a key at a ny
other door th an the dr iver ’s door
The ala rm is fun ctional about 30 seconds aft er th e
vehicle is locked using the RKE tra nsmit ter or the
key in th e driver’s door. Act iva tion is indica ted by th e
indicator light s flashing th ree times and the warning
lam p fla sh ing in the switch. If persons or animals
rema in in th e locked vehicle, the oper ator shou ld
switch off the inter ior monitor to avoid a false alarm .
OPERATION
The a nti-theft ala rm is activat ed/deactivated by
locking/unlocking t he vehicle with the remote trans-
mitter or with t he key at the dr iver ’s door. Th e key
must be held in th e locking position for more th an
two seconds. Act iva tion is indicated by the turn sig-
nal lights flash ing once. Unlocking th e vehicle at one
of the other door s will trigger an alarm.
The interior monit oring system included in the
anti-theft alarm is ba sed on ultra son ics a nd triggers
an a larm if an object in trudes the interior of the
vehicle or if any movemen t is detected inside th e
vehicle. For pr oper and effective protect ion, all win-
dows and the sunr oof must be closed.
To swit ch off the interior m onitor ing system a nd /
or th e an ti-t ow a way protect ion, a switch wit h LED
indicator light is provided in the switch pa nel. An
ala rm butt on enables the oper ator to t rigger an
ala rm man ually and t o lock all door s if t hey are
closed. Trigger ing an ala rm makes the hor n soun d
and the turn signals flash unt il th e a lar m is swit ched
off.
The anti-theft alarm control unit inclu des a gr adi-
ent indicator as a nti-tow a way protect ion. The gradi-
ent indica tor tr iggers a n audible and visua l a larm if
the veh icle is lifted (t o tow away or to remove the
wheels). The ala rm rem ain s effective even if th e bat-
tery is discon nected as the horn is powered by its
own bat tery. Th e int erior monitoring system sh ould
be switched off if people and/or anim als are left in
the vehicle.
DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING - VEHICLE THEFT
SECURITY
Any diagn osi s of t he Vehicl e T heft Secur ity
system should begin with the use of a diagnos-
tic scan tool. Refer to the appropriate diagnos-
tic information.
INTRUSION SENSOR
REMOVAL
(1) Disconn ect and isolate the battery nega tive
cable.
(2) In sert the t ip of a small fl a t-bladed scr ewdriver
into the notch on one edge of t he dom e la mp/int ru-
sion sen sor unit housing t o depress the ret ain er clip
