DESCRIPTION
The exter ior ligh ting syst em for t his model
includes th e following exterior lamps:
• Backup Lamps - Th e backup (or reverse) lamps
are int egra l to the tail lamp u nit s m ounted t o th e
back of th e qu arter panel on each side of the tailgate
at the rear of the vehicle.
• Brake Lamps - The brake (or st op) la mps
include a bulb and reflector tha t are integra l to the
tail lamp un its mount ed to the back of the qu art er
pa nel on ea ch side of th e tailga te openin g, an d th e
Center High Mou nted St op Lamp (CHMSL) tha t is
centered on the rear edge of th e r oof panel above the
tailga te opening.
• Daytime Running Lamps - Vehicles manu fac-
tured for sale in Ca nada ha ve a Da ytime Runnin g
Lamps (DRL) r elay t hat illuminat es the low bea m
headlamp bulbs whenever the engine is running.
• Fog Lamps - Fog lamp bulbs and reflectors a re
included in bot h fron t la mp un its of vehicles
equipped with t his option.
• Hazard Warning Lamps -Thehazardwarning
lam ps inclu de all of t he righ t and left tu rn signal and
repeater lamps.
• Headlamps - Separate low beam and high
beam h eadlamp bu lbs are insta lled in the front lam p
unit on ea ch side of th e fr ont grille opening. A hea d-
lam p levelin g actuat or motor is also int egra l to each
front lamp unit.
• Park Lamps - Th e park lam ps include the fron t
pa rk/side ma rker lamps an d fr ont position la mps
that are integral t o t he fron t la mp units mou nted on
eith er side of the fr ont grille opening, as well a s the
rear park lamps and rear side marker lamps that are
integra l to the tail la mp un its m ounted to t he ba ck of
the qua rter panel on each side of t he tailga te open-
ing. Inclu ded in the pa rk la mps ci r cuit ar e two rear
license plate la mp units mou nted on t he left rear
tailga te door. The par k la mps may also in clude
opt ional clea rance la mps, which are located on each
side of a vehicle that is so equipped.
• Tu rn S i g n a l La m p s -Theturnsignallamps
include th e front tu rn lam ps th at are integra l to th e
front lamp un its, the rear turn la mps that are inte-
gral to the tail lamp units , and a re p eate r lamp
mounted to ea ch fr ont fen der just above th e fron t
wheel opening.
Other com pon ents of the exterior ligh ting system
for this model include:
• Brake Lamp Switch - A plunger-type brake
lam p switch is locat ed on the st eering colum n sup-
por t bracket un der th e instr ument panel and a ctu-
ated by the brake pedal arm.
• Daytime Running Lamp Relays - Veh icles
manufactu red for sale in Canada ha ve two Daytime
Runn ing Lamps (DRL) relays. Dedicated righ t and
left side rela ys illuminat e th e low beam h eadla mp
bulb insta lled in each fron t lamp un it whenever the
engine is running. These r elays are loca ted in dedi-
cated vehicle wire ha rness conn ectors with in the
dr iver side front seat riser.
• Fog Lamp Relay - Vehicles equipped with the
opt ional fog lamps have a fog lamp r elay located in a
dedicated vehicle wire har ness connector within th e
dr iver side front seat riser.
• Fog Lamp Switch - A fog la mp switch is
mounted in the instr umen t cluster bezel, below the
cluster and out board of th e steering column on vehi-
cles equ ipped wit h this option.
• Headlamp Leveling Motor -Aheadlamplev-
eling a ctuator motor is located on th e back of each
headlamp h ousing a nd adjusts bot h the low beam
headlamp, high beam h eadla mp, a nd fog la mp (if
equipped) reflector frames in un ison.
• Headlamp Leveling Sw itch -Athumbwheel
actuated headlamp levelin g switch is mounted in th e
instr umen t cluster bezel, below the cluster a nd ou t-
board of the steerin g colu mn.
• Mu lt i-F u n c tio n S w it c h - The mult i-funct ion
switch is locat ed on the top of the steerin g column,
just below the st eerin g wheel. Th e mult i-funct ion
switch is connect ed directly to the fuse block loca ted
below th e steerin g column through an integral int er-
face connect or. On ly th e left (lighting), righ t (wiper)
control st alks a nd the ha zar d wa rnin g switch bu tton
for t he multi-funct ion switch are visible, the remain-
der of the switch is concea led beneat h th e steering
column shrou ds. The multi-fu nction switch includes a
left (light ing) con trol sta lk an d a right (wiper ) con trol
st alk. The left contr ol stalk is dedicated t o providin g
alm ost a ll of th e dr iver con trols for t he ext erior light-
ing s ys te m.
