(3) Cut the tie wrap on th e contr ol modu le (Fig.
13).
(4) Unlock and disconnect the wire har ness con-
nector fr om the module conn ector recept acle.
(5) Remove the two screws and n uts th at secure
the m odu le to the bracket.
(6) Remove the module from th e bra cket.
INSTALLATION
WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, on
vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the supple-
mental restraint system before attempting any
steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt
tensioner, or instrument panel component diagno-
sis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery
negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for
the system capacitor to discharge before perform-
ing further diagnosis or service. This is the only
sure way to disable the supplemental restraint sys-
tem. Failure to take the proper precautions could
result in accidental airbag deployment.
(1) Position the ra in sen sor control module to th e
bracket un der the instru ment panel above th e throt-
tle peda l (Fig. 12).
(2) In st all and tighten the two screws and nuts
that secu re th e module to the br acket (Fig. 13).
(3) Reconnect and lock th e wir e har ness connector
to th e module conn ector recept acle.
(4) In st all a new tie wrap to secure the wire har-
ness to t he cont rol m odu le.
(5) Reconnect t he battery negative cable.
WASHER FLUID LEVE L
SWI T CH
DESCRIPTION
The opt ional wa sh er fluid level switch is a single
pole, single throw switch that is integral t o a u niqu e
version of the washer pu mp/motor unit, located rea r-
ward fa cing side of t he washer reservoir, wh ich is
locat ed in a dedicated h ole on th e top of the sump
area near the back of the windshield washer reser-
voir on the right front fender wheel house in th e
engine compa rtment. On ly a molded plastic nipple
with a clea r ven t tube are visible near the top of th e
washer pum p/m otor unit that is equipped with the
opt ional fluid level swit ch when it is insta lled in th e
reservoir. The vent tube is rout ed to and reta ined in
an in tegr al clip located beh ind the r eservoir filler cap
near the top of th e reser voir. This version of th e
washer pump/motor unit also has a third terminal
pin in it s int egra l connector receptacle. The washer
fluid level switch cann ot be a djusted or repaired. If
faulty or da maged, th e entire washer pum p/m otor
unit must be r eplaced.
OPERATION
The washer fluid level switch monit ors the level of
the washer fluid in the washer reservoir. W h en the
fluid level in the washer reservoir is at or above th e
pr edetermined minimum , the switch contacts a re
open. When the fluid level in the wa sh er reservoir
