OPERATION
The Negat ive Tempera ture Coefficien t (NTC)
resister located with in the int ake air tem per ature
sensor a lter s it’s resistan ce in line wit h th e cha rge
air temperatur e. If the engine is cold, the va lue
equals am bient tem perat ure. For a tempera tur e of
68°F (20°C) the resistance is approximately 6000
ohms. For a tem perat ure of 104°F (40°C) the resis-
tance is approximately 3300 ohm s (F ig. 20).
REMOVAL
(1) Disconn ect the n egat ive battery cable.
(2) Unplug the wir ing harn ess connector at the
intake air t empera ture sensor.
(3) Press togeth er the sen sor lockin g arms a nd
remove the sensor from the charge air pipe (F ig.
21).
INSTALLATION
(1) Position the intake air tem perature sen sor
above the char ge air pipe access h ole.
(2) Press t ogeth er th e sensor lockin g tabs, sea t the
sensor to the pipe a nd release t abs (Fig. 21).
(3) Connect nega tive bat tery cable.
INTAKE AIR PRESSURE SEN-
SOR
DESCRIPTION
An absolute pressu re sensor is m ounted to th e a ir
clean er housing. The sen sor is used by the ECM to
adju st for ch anges in alt itude an d for air intake
obstructions due to a clogging air clean er.
OPERATION
The E CM uses t he inta ke a ir pressur e sensor to
monitor the in take pressure. Monitoring this pres-
su re allows better control of the variable geomet ry
turboch arger to suit the driving environment an d
pr eserve tur bochar ger durability.
REMOVAL
(1) Disconn ect the n egat ive battery cable.
(2) Disconn ect the sen sor electr ical connect or.
(3) Remove the air inta ke pressure sensor.
