Except for the indica tions provided within the
multi-fu nction indicator LCD unit, ea ch indicator in
the EMIC is illum ina ted by a dedica ted LED tha t is
soldered ont o th e EMIC electronic circuit boar d.
Cluster illuminat ion is accom plished by dimm able
LED back lighting, which illumina tes the gauges for
visibility when th e exterior ligh tin g is t urned on. The
cluster general illum ination LED unit s a re also sol-
dered onto the E MIC elect ronic cir cuit boa rd. Th e
LED units a re not a vailable for service replacemen t
and, if damaged or faulty, the entire EMIC must be
repla ced.
Hard wired circuitry connects the EMIC to the
electrical system of the vehicle. These har d wired cir-
cuits ar e integra l to th e vehicle wir e h arnesses,
which are r outed t hroughout the vehicle and r etained
by ma ny different met hods. These circuits m ay be
connect ed to each oth er, to the veh icle elect rical sys-
tem and to the EMIC t hrough the use of a combina-
tion of solder ed splices, splice block connect ors, a nd
many different types of wire harness termina l con-
nector s an d insulator s. Refer to the appropriate wir-
ing infor mation. Th e wiring information includes
wiring diagr ams, proper wire and connect or repa ir
