ADJUSTMENT - FRONT LAMP UNIT
VEHICLE PREPARATION FOR FRONT LAMP UNIT
ALIGNMENT
(1) Verify hea dlamp dim mer (mu lti-funct ion)
switch , fog lamp switch (if equipped), and high beam
indicator operation.
(2) Verify t hat th e headlamp leveling switch is in
the 0 position.
(3) Repair or replace an y fau lty or damaged com-
pon ents that could interfere with proper lam p align-
ment.
(4) Verify proper tire inflation.
(5) Clean front la mp unit len ses.
(6) Verify t hat th e cargo compartment is not
heavily loaded. Vehicle should be at or near curb
weigh t .
(7) The fuel t ank sh ould be Full. Add 2.94 kilo-
gra ms (6.5 pounds) of weight over the fuel tank for
each estimated gallon of missing fuel.
(8) Load the driver s seat with 75 kilograms (165
pou nds) of weight.
FRONT LAMP UNIT ALIGNMENT
(1) Position the vehicle on a level sur face.
(2) Turn On the hea dlam p low bea ms or the fog
lam ps (if equipped).
(3) Open the hood.
(4) Set up the hea dlamp adju st er accor ding to th e
instr uctions provided by th e manufact urer of t he
unit.
(5) Adjust t he front lamp unit reflector a s r equired
by tu rning t he adjustment screws in or out (Fig.
19).
(6) When properly aligned, the low bea m hea d-
lam ps and, if equipped, fog lamps should provide a
cut-off pat tern as shown in (Fig. 20) and (Fig. 21).
Repeat th e adjustment procedur e as necessary to
obtain the recommended cut -off patt erns.
FRON T POSI T I ON LAM P BU LB
REMOVAL
(1) Disconn ect and isolate the battery nega tive
cable.
(2) Disengage a nd swing the retainers tha t secure
the front lamp unit r ear cover to each side of the
lam p h ousing an d r emove the cover (Fig. 22).
