INSTALLATION - HIGH PRESSURE LINES
WARNING: NO SPARKS, OPEN FLAMES OR SMOK-
ING. RISK OF POISONING FROM INHALING AND
SWALLOWING FUEL. RISK OF INJURY TO EYES
AND SKIN FROM CONTACT WITH FUEL. POUR
FUELS ONLY INTO SUITABLE AND APPROPRI-
ATELY MARKED CONTAINERS. WEAR PROTECTIVE
CLOTHING.
(1) Loosen the fuel rail mounting bolts to install
lin es free of stress.
CAUTION: Inspect sealing cone at lines. Replace if
compression points exist. Ensure lines are exactly
located.
(2) Position and in st all fuel lines (Fig. 3). Tigh ten
to 22N·m (195 lbs. in.) usin g a wrench to counterhold
at threaded conn ection.
(3) Tighten fu el ra il t o 14N·m (124 lbs. in . ).
(4) Connect nega tive bat tery cable.
CAUTION: Care must be taken when installing the
engine cover. Assure the proper routing of the fuel
injector return fuel hose to the banjo bolt fitting in
the left rear corner of the cover. Failure to do so
may pinch or damage the hose causing fuel leakage
or a driveability concern.
(5) St art engine, run for a few min utes, tu rn
engine off and inspect for leaks (Refer to 14 - F UEL
SYSTEM - WARNING), (Refer to 14 - FUEL SYS-
TEM - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING).
FU EL RAI L PRESSU RE SEN -
SOR
DESCRIPTION
The fu el rail pressu re sensor is at tached to the
front of the fu el rail. The sen sor supplies the current
fuel rail pressu re to the E CM.
OPERATION
Non-con st ant fuel system pr essu re influen ces th e
position of a diaphragm i n side t he sen sor. This
results in a variation in th e electrical resistan ce. The
fuel rail pressure sen sor su pplies t he appropriate
volt age signal to the E CM.
REMOVAL
(1) Disconn ect the n egat ive battery cable.
(2) Disconn ect the sensor wirin g ha rness connect or
(Fig. 4).
NOTE: Place a shop towel underneath the sensor to
capture any fuel spillage.
(3) Unscr ew the sensor and disca rd the seal.
