CON N ECT OR
REMOVAL
(1) Disconn ect batt ery.
(2) Relea se Connector Lock (Fig. 9).
(3) Disconn ect t he connector being repaired from
its matin g ha lf/component.
(4) Remove the dr ess cover (if applica ble) (Fig. 9).
(5) Relea se the Secondar y Term ina l Lock, if
required.
(6) Position the conn ector locking finger a way from
the ter min al usin g the proper special tool. Pull on
the wire to rem ove the ter minal from the connector.
INSTALLATION
(1) In sert the rem oved ter minal in th e same cavity
on the r epair connector.
(2) Repeat steps for each ter min al in the conn ec-
tor, being sur e tha t all wir es are inser ted in to t he
pr oper cavities. For addit iona l con nector pin-out
ident ification, refer to the wiring diagrams.
(3) When the connect or is re-assembled, th e sec-
ondary t erminal lock mu st be placed in th e locked
position t o prevent ter min al push ou t.
(4) Replace dress cover (if applicable).
(5) Connect con nector to its mat ing ha lf/compo-
nent.
(6) Connect batt ery a nd test all affect ed system s.
DI ODE
REMOVAL
(1) Disconn ect the batt ery.
(2) Locate t he diode in t he ha rness, an d r emove
the pr otective covering.
(3) Remove th e diode from the h arness, pay att en-
tion to the cu rren t flow dir ection (F ig. 10).
INSTALLATION
(1) Remove th e insulation from t he wires in t he
harness. On ly rem ove enough insulation to solder in
the n ew diode.
(2) In st all the n ew diode in th e h arness, ma king
su re current flow is correct. If necessa ry, refer to the
appropriate wiring dia gra m for current flow (Fig. 11).
(3) Solder the connect ion together using rosin cor e
type solder only. Do not use acid core solder.
(4) Tape the diode to the h arness usin g electr ical
tape. Make sure t he diode is completely sealed fr om
the elements.
(5) Re-connect the battery and test affect ed sys-
tems.
