INSTALLATION
WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, during
and following any seat belt service, carefully
inspect all seat belts, buckles, mounting hardware,
retractors, and anchors for proper installation, oper-
ation, or damage. Replace any belt that is cut,
frayed, or torn. Straighten any belt that is twisted.
Tighten any loose fasteners. Replace any belt that
has a damaged or inoperative buckle or retractor.
Replace any belt that has a bent or damaged latch
plate or anchor plate. Never attempt to repair a seat
belt component. Always replace damaged or faulty
seat belt components with the correct, new and
unused replacement parts listed in the
DaimlerChrysler Mopar Parts Catalog.
(1) Position the rear seat belt and r etra ctor unit
onto the bracket of th e r ear sea t cu sh ion frame (Fig.
35). Be certain to engage the guide on the retr actor
into the locat ing notch on the bra cket .
(2) In st all and tigh ten the screw that secur es th e
rear seat belt r etra ctor to th e bracket on the r ear
seat cush ion fra me. Tighten the screw to 35 N·m (26
ft. lbs.).
(3) Route t he rea r seat belt a nd lower an chor
through the tu rning loop br acket a nd the turnin g
loop trim cover.
(4) Position the rea r seat belt lower anchor to the
rear sea t cushion fr ame (F ig. 33) or (Fig. 34).
(5) In st all and tigh ten the screw that secur es th e
rear sea t belt lower anchor to the rea r seat cushion
frame. Tighten the screw to 35 N·m (26 ft. lbs.).
(6) For a left outboard seat ing position only, rein-
st all the pla st ic cover ont o th e scr ew that secu res the
rear seat belt lower anchor to th e left out board side
of the seat fra me.
(7) Position the two seat belt turning loops to the
turning loop bra cket so tha t on e tur nin g loop is
locat ed behind th e br acket and one is located in front
of the bracket (Fig. 32).
(8) From the front of the turning loop bracket,
inser t the pin th rough both turn ing loops and the
bracket, then secu re it from behind the bracket with
anewpushnut.
(9) Position th e tur nin g loop trim cover over the
turning loop br acket.
(10) Lift t he seat belt webbing to access an d insta ll
the plastic push pin fasten er that secur es t he rea r
seat belt turn ing loop trim cover t o the turning loop
bracket at the top of the sea t back (Fig. 31).
(11) Reinstall t he plast ic shield onto the ba ck of
the rear seat. (Refer to 23 - BODY/SEATS/RE AR
SE AT BACK SHIELD - INSTALLATION).
(12) Rein st all th e rear bench seat in to the veh icle.

(1) Remove the r ear bench seat contain ing the
inboa rd rear seat belt buckle u nit t o be ser viced from
the vehicle.
(2) Remove the plastic shield from th e back of the
rear seat. (Refer to 23 - BODY/SEATS/REAR SEAT
BACK SHIELD - REMOVAL).
(3) Remove the screw tha t secures either the
inboa rd rear seat belt buckle to the rea r seat cu shion
frame (Fig. 36).
(4) Remove the inboard r ear seat belt bu ckle from
the r ear seat cu sh ion frame.
