WASHER HOSES / TUBES
DESCRIPTION
The washer plumbing consist s of a small diameter
rubber hose th at is routed from the bar bed out let
nipple of t he wash er pump/m otor on the washer res-
ervoir to the check valve just below t he cowl t op
pa nel behind the rear of the hood opening in th e
engine compa rtment (F ig. 14). Th e ot her t wo barbed
nipples of the check valve ar e connect ed to two shor t
lengths of hose th at each ter minate at a molded pla s-
tic elbow that passes throu gh a rubber grommet from
the engine com pa rtment to the ou tside of the cowl
top panel nea r each wiper pivot . The two wa sh er noz-
zle hoses are then conn ected from the elbow fittings
on t he outside of the cowl top panel along th e u nder-
side of the wiper arms to the t wo washer nozzles.
Washer hose is available for ser vice only a s roll
st ock, which must th en be cut to l engt h. The m olded
plastic washer hose fitt ings cannot be repaired. If
these fittings a re fau lty or damaged, they mu st be
repla ced.
OPERATION
Washer fluid in the washer r eservoir is pressurized
and fed by the wa sher pump/m otor thr ough th e
washer system plumbing and fittings to the two
washer nozzles. When ever routing the wa sh er hose
or a wire harness cont aining a wa sh er hose, it m ust
be rout ed a way from hot, sha rp, or moving part s;
and, shar p bends tha t m ight pin ch t he h ose mu st be
avoided.
