contacts of the n ormally open swit ch close. Th e
washer fluid level switch is connected to t he vehicle
electrical system throu gh the wash er pump/m otor
unit take out a nd connect or of the veh icle wire har-
ness. The swit ch receives a path to ground at all
times through anot her take ou t of th e vehicle wir e
harness with a sin gle eyelet termina l connect or th at
is secured u nder a grou nd screw loca ted nea r the
right hea dlam p in the engine compartment .
The switch is connected in ser ies between grou nd
and th e washer fluid switch sense input to the E lec-
troMechanical Inst rument Cluster (EMIC). When the
switch closes, th e EMIC senses the g r ound on the
washer flu id switch sense circu it. Th e EMIC is pro-
gra mmed t o respon d to t his input by illuminating th e
washer fluid indicator. The washer fluid level switch
input to the EMIC may be diagnosed using conven-
tional diagn ost ic tools and m ethods.
