INSTALLATION
NOTE: Do Not tighten the cylinder head cover first.
The fuel injectors are aligned by way of the cylinder
head cover.
(1) Fit cylinder hea d cover with n ew gasket a nd
insta ll bolts, hand t ight (Fig. 25).
(2) In sert all fuel injectors, ten sioning claws and
lin es. Inser t new bolt s and tighten. (Refer to 14 -
FUE L SYSTEM/F UEL INJ ECTION/FUEL INJ EC-
TOR - INSTALLATION).
(3) Tighten cylinder hea d cover bolt s t o 9 N·m (80
lbs. in.).
(4) In st all a nd properly route fuel in ject or an d
glow plug wiring harness, making a ppropriate con-
nections.
(5) Connect the ca mshaft position sen sor.
(6) Connect the r etur n flow line.
(7) Attach oil separ ator hose.
(8) Connect nega tive bat tery cable.
WARNING: (Refer to 14 - FUEL SYSTEM - WARN-
ING).
WARNING: USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN ENGINE
IS OPERATING. DO NOT STAND IN A DIRECT LINE
WITH FAN. DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS NEAR PUL-
LEYS, BELTS OR FAN. DO NOT WEAR LOOSE
CLOTHES.
(9) St art en gine and in spect for leaks. Care must
be take to observe the fuel system warning (Refer to
14 - FUEL SYSTEM - WARNING).
VALVE S TE M S EA LS
DESCRIPTION
The valve stem seals a re ma de of Viton rubber. The
seals are posit ioned over th e valve stem and sea ted
on the valve guide. For servicin g of the valve seals
(Refer t o 9 - ENGINE /CYLINDER HEAD/VALVE
SP RINGS - REMOVAL).
