(7) Remove the two screws th at secure t he wiper
lin kage modu le mot or bracket to the flange on the
underside of th e cowl t op pa nel.
(8) Remove t he wiper linkage modu le and wiper
motor from th e un derside of t he cowl t op panel as a
unit.
(9) Remove the wiper m otor from the wiper lin k-
age modu le. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/WIPE RS/
WASHERS/WIPER MOTOR - REMOVAL).
INSTALLATION
(1) Reinstall the wiper mot or onto the wiper link-
age modu le. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/WIPE RS/
WASHERS/FRONT WIPER MOTOR -
INSTALLATION).
(2) Carefully position the wiper linkage module
and wiper motor to t he under side of the cowl t op
pa nel as a unit (Fig. 30).
(3) In st all and t igh ten the two screws that secure
the wiper linkage m odu le motor br acket to the flange
on t he under side of the cowl top panel. Tigh ten the
scr ews to 6 N·m (50 in. lbs.).
(4) In st all and tight en the nut and washer t hat
secures each wiper pivot hou sing to the outside of th e
cowl top panel.
(5) Reconnect the wiper motor pigt ail wire con nec-
tor to t he vehicle wire harness con nector.
(6) Reinstall the ventila tion housin g ont o the da sh
pa nel and the underside of t he cowl top pa nel (Fig.
29).
(7) Reinstall th e wiper arm s onto the wiper pivots.
(Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/WIPERS/WASHERS/
WIPER ARM - INSTALLATION).
(8) Reconnect t he battery negative cable.

DESCRIPTION
The wiper motor is secured with th ree screws t o a
motor bracket integral to th e wiper linkage module
bracket located below the cowl top panel in the
engine compartment (Fig. 31). The wiper motor ou t-
pu t shaft passes t hrough a hole in the motor bracket,
where a n ut secures th e wiper mot or crank arm to
the motor out pu t sh aft. The two-speed perma nent
magnet wiper motor feat ures an int egra l tran sm is-
sion, a n interna l par k switch , and an interna l Posi-
tive Tempera ture Coefficient (PTC) circuit breaker.
The wiper mot or cann ot be adjusted or repa ired. If
any com pon ent of t he mot or is faulty or damaged, the
entire wiper mot or unit m ust be replaced.
