CAUTION: Do not drive cup plug into the casting as
restricted cooling can result and cause serious
engine problems.
Thorou ghly clean inside of cup plug hole in cylin-
der block or hea d. Be sur e to rem ove old sealer.
Lightly coa t inside of cup plu g hole with Mopar!
St ud an d Bearing Moun t. Make cer tain the new plu g
is clea ned of all oil or grea se. Using proper drive
plug, drive plu g into hole so tha t t he sharp edge of
the plug is at least 0.5 mm (0.020 in .) inside th e
lead-in cham fer.
It is not necessar y to wait for curing of the sealant.
The cooling system can be refilled and the vehicle
placed in service immediately.
STANDARD PROCEDURE - MEASURING CYLIN-
DER BORES
NOTE: This must be done with engine completely
disassembled.
(1) Thorou ghly clean all cylinder bores with appro-
pr iate cleaning solvent.
(2) Measur e each cylin der at the three measuring
points shown (Fig. 31).
(3) Usin g the t hree measurment poin t, mea su re
cylinder in t he longitu dinal a nd in the t ransverse
direct ion (Fig. 31).
