HIGH PRESSURE SIDE
A. Fi l l in g the piston: Th e piston (6) is moved
down a s a result of t he piston spring (7). Th e fu el
su pplied by the fuel delivery pump flows along the
ring passage (10), the valve disk and t he valve spring
(3) into th e cylinder. The check ba ll (4) prevents the
fuel fr om being able to flow ba ck from the high pres-
su re passage (5) (F ig. 7).
B. Producing high pressure: The piston (6) is
moved up by the r ising eccent ric shaft (9) an d the
fuel is compressed. The valve (2) disk shut s off the
delivery volum e t o t he fuel supply. Once the fuel
pr essu re in th e cylinder rises beyond the pr essu re
which exists in the h igh pressure circuit (5), the
check ba ll (4) opens a nd th e fuel is pumped int o the
high pr essure circuit (5) (Fig. 7).
