OPERATION
On t he ca mshaft sensors signa l line, a high signal
correspons to a volta ge of 0-5V. If the segm ent
machined int o the exh aust camshaft sprocket is posi-
tioned opposite the ca mshaft sen sor, t he ca mshaft
signal is low, approxima tely 0V. This signa l is u sed
by the en gine control module (ECM) for detect ing
ign ition TDC of cylinder 1 as th e engine rota tes. If no
signal is supplied by t he ca mshaft posit ion sensor,
the vehicle will not start beca use cylin der or der can
not be detected.
REMOVAL
(1) Disconn ect nega tive battery cable.
(2) Remove engine cover
(3) Disconn ect ca mshaft position sensor electrical
connect or (Fig. 7).
(4) Remove retainin g bolt and r emove sensor (Fig.
7).
INSTALLATION
(1) In st all ca mshaft posit ion sensor an d tighten
bolt (Fig. 8).
(2) Reconnect electr ical connect or (Fig. 8).
