OPERATION
The injector opera tion ca n be subdivided into four
operat ing states with the engine r unning a nd the
high-pressure pump generating pr essure:
Injector closed (with high pressu re applied)
Injector opens (start of injection )
Injector opened fu lly
Injector closes (end of injection)
Injector closed (with high pressure applied)
With the injector closed (at -rest state), the solenoid
valve is n ot energized and is therefore closed. With
the bleed orifice closed, th e valve sprin g forces the
armatur es ball onto the bleed-orifice seat . Th e r ails
high pr essu re build up in the valve control cha mber,
and th e sa me pressure is also present in the nozzles
chamber volum e. Th e ra il pressur e applied a t th e
control plungers end fa ce, together with the force of
the nozzle spring, ma int ain the nozzle in the closed
