Torque from the tor que con verter is increased via
the input sh aft (25) and a ll thr ee pla neta ry gear sets
and tra nsferr ed to t he output sha ft (26). (Fig. 2) (Fig.

Front Planetary Gear Set
The ann ulu s gea r (8) is driven by t he input shaft
(25). The sun gear (21) is held again st th e housing by
the locked fr eewheel F1 (20) during accelerat ion and
via the engaged mu ltiple-disc holding clutch B1 (4)
du ring decelera tion . The pla neta ry pinion gears (17)
turn on t he fixed sun gear (21) and increa se the
torqu e from the ann ulus gear (8) t o the planetary
carrier (13). The plan etar y carrier (13) moves at a
reduced speed in t he running direct ion of the en gine.
Rear Planetary Gear Set
The annulus gea r (11) turns at a r edu ced speed
du e to the mechanical conn ection to t he front plane-
tary car rier (15). The sun gear (23) is held aga inst
the housing by the engaged m ultiple-disc holdin g
clutch B2 (6), by t he locked freewheel F2 (24) dur ing
accelerat ion and by th e engaged multiple-disc clu tch
K3 (12) dur ing decelerat ion. The pla neta ry gear s (19)
turn on t he fixed sun gear (23) and increa se the
torqu e from the a nnulus gear (11) to the planetary
carrier (15). The plan etar y carrier (15) moves at a
reduced speed in t he running direct ion of the en gine.
Center Planetary Gear Set
The ann ulus gea r (10) is driven at the same speed
as the rear planetary car rier (15) as a r esult of a
