Torque from the tor que con verter is increased via
the input shaft (25) and the cen ter pla neta ry gear set
and tra nsferr ed to t he output sha ft (26). (Fig. 6) (Fig.

Front Planetary Gear Set
The pla neta ry ca rrier (13) and sun gear (21) are
connect ed via the engaged m ultiple-disc clutch K1
(7). The planetary gea rset is therefor e locked and
turns a s a closed u nit at the in pu t speed due to the
mecha nica l connection of th e a nnulus gear (8) and
input sh aft (25).
Rear Planetary Gear Set
The m ult iple-disc clu tch K2 (9) is engaged and
transfers the input speed of the inpu t shaft (25) t o
the planetar y carrier (15) via the annulus gear (10).
The annulus gear (11) turns in the same way as th e
planet ary ca rrier (15) due t o t he mechanica l connec-
tion wit h the locked front pla neta ry gearset . This
planet ary gearset is therefor e locked an d tu rns as a
closed unit.
Center Planetary Gear Set
The a nnulus gear (10) turn s at the input speed as
a result of the en gaged multiple-disc clut ch K2 (9).
The su n gear (22) is held again st the housing by the
multiple-disc holding clu tch B2 (6). Th e planet ary
pinion gea rs (18) t urn on t he fixed su n gear (22) and
increase the torqu e from th e ann ulus gear (10) to the
planet ary carrier (14). The out pu t shaft (26) con-
nected to th e pla neta ry carrier (14) tu rns at a
reduced speed in t he running direct ion of the en gine.
