Torque from the tor que con verter is increased via
the input sh aft (25) and a ll thr ee pla neta ry gear sets
and tra nsferred wit h r eversed direction of r otat ion to
the ou tput sha ft (26). (Fig. 12) (Fig. 13)
Front Planetary Gear Set
The ann ulu s gea r (8) is driven by t he input shaft
(25). The sun gear (21) is held again st th e housing by
the locked fr eewheel F1 (20) during accelerat ion and
via the engaged mu ltiple-disc holding clutch B1 (4)
du ring decelera tion . The pla neta ry pinion gears (17)
turn on t he fixed sun gear (21) and increa se the
torqu e from the ann ulus gear (8) t o the planetary
carrier (13). The plan etar y carrier (13) moves at a
reduced speed in t he running direct ion of the en gine.
Rear Planetary Gear Set
The plan etar y ca rrier (15) is held against the hous-
ing by th e enga ged multiple-disc h olding clutch B3
(5). The annu lus gear (11) t urns at a r edu ced speed
du e to the mechanical conn ection to t he front plane-
tary ca rrier (13). The planetary gear s (19) turn
between the annulus gear (11) an d the su n gear (23).
The direct ion is rever sed by the held planetary car-
rier (15) so th at th e sun gear (23) turns in t he oppo-
site direction to the runnin g dir ection of t he en gine.
Center Planetary Gear Set
The an nulus gear (10) is held aga inst the hou sing
by the multiple-disc holding clu tch B3 (5) via th e
mecha nica l connect ion t o the planetary carr ier (15).
