The syslog is displayed in the default format.
Global configuration mode
By default, the syslog is displayed in the format as follows:
*timestamp: %facility-severity-mnemonic: description
Here is an example:
*May 31 23:25:21: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by console
With this function enabled, the syslog is displayed in the format as follows:
timestamp facility-severity-mnemonic: description
Here is an example:
May 31 23:31:28 SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by console
The difference between the private syslog format and the default syslog format lies in the following
marks:
The private syslog does not have “*” before the timestamp, “:” after the timestamp and “%” before the
identifying string.
The following example sets the private syslog format.
Ruijie(config)# service private-syslog
8.37 service sequence-numbers
Use this command to attach serial numbers into the logs in global configuration mode. Use the no form
of this command to restore the default setting.
service sequence-numbers
