3 INSTALLATION PLANNING OVERVIEW
In order to successfully complete a VDR-100G3 installation, it is recommended that adequate
time be allotted for an installation planning stage. This section provides information on required
tools, cabling specifications, compass safe distances, and power requirements.
Additionally, dimensional information is provided below for VDR-100G3 components, including
the DAU, DPU, FRM, OAU, external interfaces such as the DataDiscrete, DataAnalog, and
DataProtocol, and bridge microphones can be found in the Appendix drawings.
3.1 Required Tools
At minimum, the following tools are required for a VDR-100G3 installation:

Wire Ferrule Crimper
RG6/11 Coaxial Crimper
RJ45 Crimper
Wire Stripper
Terminal Screwdriver
Laptop with 10/100 base-T Ethernet Interface
No.2 Phillips Screwdriver
Slot-head screwdriver
Allen Key Set (Metric)
13mm wrench
1/4” socket driver
1/4” ratchet
1/4” extension
13mm deep socket
5.5mm socket
7mm socket
8mm socket
