A6.2.1.9 NMEA-0183/IEC 61162 String Identifier Configuration
Up to ten DataDiscrete modules may be connected together to monitor up to 240 discrete signals.
In order for the equipment to correctly identify and monitor each input channel, it is necessary to
program a unique string identifier for each DataDiscrete module. The DataDiscrete identifier can
be programmed using the DIP Switch located on the DataDiscrete circuit board. To access these
switches:
Unplug the front panel input connectors;
Unscrew the two (2) screws located on the front panel of the DataDiscrete enclosure in
order to remove the panel;
Slide the circuit board out of the enclosure.
The DIP Switch for string identifier configuration selection is located as shown above (see
DataDiscrete PCB above).
The following table on the next page provides information on the switch settings necessary for
programming the DataDiscrete String Identifier:
