7.7.3.7 Venting the fuel system

Use the hand pump (283/6) until fuel which
is free of bubbles flows out through the
opened vent plug (283/1) of the fuel prefil-
ter cover. Collect any fuel that leaks out
and dispose of it in compliance with envi-
ronmental regulations.

Tighten the vent plug (25 Nm).
If the diesel engine has not started
after max. 30 seconds, turn the ig-
nition key to position "I" or "0", and
wait for at least 30 seconds before
repeating the start-up procedure.
Do not drive the diesel engine at full
throttle right away. Drive with re-
straint until the engine reaches op-
erating temperature.
