Torque Converter Lockup Clutch Regulating Valve
The torque converter locku p clutch r egulating
valve (6) (Fig. 113) regulates the tor que con vert er
lock-up clutch workin g pressur e (p-TCC) in r elat ion
to th e torque con vert er clutch cont rol pr essu re (p-S/
TCC). Accordin g to the size of t he wor king pressu re
(p-A), t he torque convert er lockup clutch is eit her
Engaged, Disengaged, or Slipping. When the regulat-
ing valve (6) is in th e lower position , lubr icat ing oil
flows th rough the t orque converter an d oil cooler (8)
into th e tra nsmission (torqu e converter lockup clu tch
unpressu rized). In its regulating position (slippin g,
torqu e converter lockup clutch pressurized), a
reduced volume of lubricating oil flows through th e
annular passage (7) bypassin g the torqu e con vert er
and passing direct th rough the oil cooler into t he
transmission . Th e rest of the lubr icat ing oil is
direct ed via the throttle “a ” into th e t orque converter
in order to cool th e torque convert er lockup clu tch.
