ASSEMBLY
(1) In st all new in ner oil pump seal (1) (Fig. 189)
with Sea l Insta ller 8902-A.
(2) Replace O-ring (2) (Fig. 189).
(3) Lubricate pu mp gea rs and place in th e pump
housin g. Inser t pump gear (1) (Fig. 190) so that the
chamfer (a rrow) points t owards the pump h ousing.

REMOVAL
(1) Raise and support vehicle.
(2) Remove t he pr opeller sha ft (Refer to3-DIF-
FERE NTIAL & DRIVELINE/P ROPELLER SH AFT/
PROPELLER SH AFT - RE MOVAL).
(3) Verify that the tr ansmission is in PARK in
order to prepa re for the removal of the output shaft
nut.
(4) Remove the nut holding th e pr opeller shaft
flan ge to the ou tput shaft and rem ove the fla nge.
(5) Remove the transmission rear oil seal with a
su itable slide ha mmer a nd screw.
(6) Remove t he tr ansmission out pu t shaft washer.
Be su re to tag th e washer since it is very similar to
the gea rtra in en d-play shim and they must n ot be
interchanged.
(7) Remove the tr ansmission rear out pu t shaft
bearing reta ining rin g (1) (F ig. 191).
