Before installing th e wheel to the wheel ring fla nge
make sur e tha t all the cone wa sh ers ar e inst alled on
the wheel flange r ing (Fig. 20).
The dua l rear wheel lug nuts sh ould be tightened
according t o the following procedure:
• Insta ll the inn er wheel t o the hu b assembly.
• Install the out er wheel Make sur e th e v al ve
stems line up with each when aligning the
wheels (Fig. 21).
• Install the cone washer s for t he outer wh eel
before insta lling the lug nuts (Fig. 22).
• Tighte n the w he e l lug nuts in the numb e re d
sequential patt ern un til t hey a re snu g tight . Then
tighten lug nut s to specified torque following same
number sequ ence, (Refer to 22 - TIRES/WHEE LS/
WHEELS - SPECIF ICATIONS).
• Tigh ten lug nuts in sa me number ed sequ ence a
second t ime to the specified t orque. Th is will en su re
that the wh eels are thorough ly m ated.
• Ch eck lug nut specified torque after 100 miles
(160 kilometers). Also after 500 miles (800 kilome-
ters) of vehicle operat ion.
NOTE: Wheel lug nuts should be tightened to spec-
ified torque at every maintenance interval thereafter.
REMOVAL
(1) Raise and support the vehicle.
(2) Remove the wheel lu g studs (SRW) (F ig. 24).
(3) Remove the lug nut s (DRW) On v ehi c les w i th
dual rear wheels do not pry off the front hub
cap the lug nuts must be removed in order to
re mov e th e h ub ca p. (Fig. 23).
