DESCRIPTION
The original equipm ent fin ish is a multi step pr o-
cess tha t involves clea ning, a pplying electro de-posi-
tion (E -coat), an ti-ch ip prim er, basecoa t, and
clear coat steps.
On most vehicles a two-part paint applicat ion
(basecoat/clearcoat) is used. Color pain t that is
applied to primer i s ca lled ba secoat. The clear coat
pr otects the basecoa t from ult raviolet ligh t an d pro-
vides a durable high-gloss fin ish.
CAUTION: Do not use abrasive chemicals or com-
pounds on painted surfaces. Damage to finish can
result.
Do not use harsh alkaline based cleaning solvents
on painted surfaces. Damage to finish or color can
result.

DESCRIPTION
When a painted metal surfa ce h as been scr atch ed
or ch ipped, it should be touch ed-u p as soon as possi-
ble to avoid corr osion. F or best resu lts, use MOPAR!
Scr atch F iller/Primer, Touch -Up Paints a nd Clea r Top
Coat.
WARNING: USE AN OSHA APPROVED RESPIRATOR
AND SAFETY GLASSES WHEN SPRAYING PAINT
OR SOLVENTS IN A CONFINED AREA. PERSONAL
INJURY CAN RESULT.
STANDARD PROCEDURE - PAINT TOUCH - UP
(1) Scr ape loose pain t and corrosion fr om inside
scr atch or chip.
(2) Clean affected area with MOPAR! Tar/Roa d
Oil Remover or equivalent, and allow t o dry.
(3) Fill the inside of t he scratch or chip with a coat
of filler /pr imer. Do not overlap pr imer onto good su r-
face finish. Th e applicator br ush should be wet
enough to puddle-fill the scr atch or ch ip with out run-
ning. Do not stroke brush applicator on body surface.
Allow the filler/primer t o dry h ard.
(4) Cover the filler/primer with color touch-up
pa int. Do not overla p touch-u p color ont o the or iginal
color coat around th e scratch or ch ip. Bu tt the new
color to th e origin al color, if possible. Do n ot st roke
applica tor brush on body surfa ce. Allow touch-up
pain t t o dry h ar d.
(5) On vehicles without clear coat, the touch-u p
color can be l igh tly finesse san ded (1500 grit ) and
polished with r ubbing com pou nd.
(6) On vehicles with clea rcoat , apply clear top coat
to touch-up pa int with the sam e tech niqu e as
