ENGINE OIL - DIESEL ENGINES
SAE VISCOSITY GRADE
CAUTION: Low viscosity oils must have the proper
API quality.
Only use engine oils th at are la beled on the con-
tainer as meeting API (American Petr oleum Insti-
tute) and/or Daim lerChrysler specifications MB
228.3, 228.5, 229.3, a nd 229.5, such as MOPAR! SAE
15W-40 HD Diesel Engine Oil (e.g. MOPAR! Part
No. 03798231AD), or equivalent.
Do not add any mat eria ls (other t han leak det ec-
tion dyes) to the engine oil. En gine oil is an en gi-
neered product and it’s performance may be impaired
by su pp lem en t a l a ddit ives.
When toppin g off en gin e oil, on ly u se oil of t he
sa me qu ality grade a nd SAE classificat ion.
Always refer to th e following viscosit y ch art for the
pr oper viscosity grade ba sed on ambient tem per a-
ture. Select oil viscosity accordin g to the lowest air
temper ature expected befor e the next oil ch ange.
The temper ature limits given for th e differ ent SAE
classes should be regar ded as guidelin es which m ay
be exceeded t empora rily to avoid excessively frequ ent
engine oil ch anges.
