(4) Remove the cover panel from the top of t he
driver side seat r iser.
(5) Remove the tim e delay relay from its veh icle
wire harness connect or by gra sping it firm ly and
pu lling it straight ou t from t he con nector within the
driver side seat r iser.
INSTALLATION
WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, on
vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the supple-
mental restraint system before attempting any
steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt
tensioner, or instrument panel component diagno-
sis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery
negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for
the system capacitor to discharge before perform-
ing further diagnosis or service. This is the only
sure way to disable the supplemental restraint sys-
tem. Failure to take the proper precautions could
result in accidental airbag deployment.
(1) Position t he time delay relay to its vehicle wire
harness connector wit hin th e driver side sea t riser.
(2) Align th e time delay relay terminals with the
term inal cavities in the vehicle wire h arn ess connec-
tor.
(3) Push firmly and evenly on th e top of the time
delay rela y un til the ter mina ls a re fully seat ed in the
term inal cavities in the vehicle wire h arn ess connec-
tor.
(4) Position the cover pan el onto the top of th e
dr iver side seat riser (Fig. 12).
(5) In st all and t igh ten the two screws that secure
the cover panel to th e top of the seat r iser un der the
dr iver side front seat . Tighten t he scr ews to 2 N·m
(18 in . lbs.).
(6) Move th e dr iver side front sea t back to its driv-
ing position.
(7) Reconnect t he battery negative cable.
