7.7.8 Venting the hydraulic pump
The hydraulic pump is a combination of the
main pump in an open circuit and the slewing
pump in a closed circuit. Before placing the
pump into operation for the first time, and
when changing the hydraulic oil or carrying
out maintenance work, fill the drained or new
components of the hydraulic system with
clean, filtered hydraulic oil. There should be
no contamination in the hydraulic circuit.

Danger of injury due to hydraulic
oil spray
Closed slewing circuit. Depressuri-
zation due to internal leak!
Before opening, test the slewing
circuit with a pressure gauge to
check there is no pressure.
In an emergency: Administer first
aid, seek treatment from a doctor
Please carry out filling in the following order:
Fill the slewing pump using the hose con-
nection (299/2).
Fill the hydraulic tank.
At the main pump, let the air escape via the
vent plugs (299/1).
Fill the slewing motor using the plugs
(300/1).
Fill the slewing motor connection lines.
Operate the diesel engine in low idle.
n Carefully control the main and slewing
pumps without load, watching out for unex-
pected movements as you do so. Slowly
move the loading equipment a little and ro-
tate the uppercarriage by three revolutions.
Listen for any unusual noise from the
pumps.
Switch off the diesel engine and check the
tightness of the hydraulic system.
