(a) Atta ch Adapter 8266-18 (2) to Ha ndle 8266-8
(1).
(b) Attach dial indicator C-3339 (3) to Han dle
8266-8 (1).
(c) Install the assembled tool onto the input
sh aft of th e t ransmission an d tight en t he reta ining
scr ew on Ada pt er 8266-18 (2) to secure it t o the
input sh aft.
(d) Position th e dial in dicator plunger aga inst a
flat spot on the oil pump a nd zero t he dial indica-
tor.
(e) Move the input sha ft in and out. Record the
maximu m travel for a ssem bly r eferen ce.
(4) Loosen guide bushing (12) (Fig. 40) an d rem ove
from tra nsmission housing.
(5) Detach oil pan (5) (Fig. 40).
(6) Remove oil filter (4) (F ig. 40).
(7) Unscr ew Torx socket bolts (3) and remove elec-
trohydrau lic u nit (2).
(8) Pla ce the tra nsmission in PARK to pr epare for
the r emova l of t he out pu t shaft nut .
(9) Remove the nut holding th e pr opeller shaft
flan ge to the ou tput shaft and rem ove the fla nge.
(10) Remove t he t ransm ission rear oil sea l with a
su itable slide ha mmer a nd screw.
(11) Remove the t ransmission out pu t sh aft wash er.
Be su re to tag th e washer since it is very similar to
the gea rtra in en d-play shim and they must n ot be
interchanged.
(12) Remove th e tr ansmission rear outpu t shaft
bearing reta ining rin g (1) (F ig. 41).
