(c) Pull shift cable out of ba ll socket. Ball socket
can rem ain on tr ansmission lever (2).
(7) Remove th e shift ca ble grom met from the dash
panel.
(8) Remove the sh ift cable from t he vehicle.
INSTALLATION
(1) Pass the shift cable through the opening in the
da sh pan el and seat the shift cable gromm et into the
hole.
(2) In st all th e shift cable (1) (Fig. 162) to the
transmission .
(a) Push shift cable onto t he tran sm ission shift
lever (2) ball socket.
(b) Latch ball socket latch of cable.
(c) Clip sh ift cable retainer int o retainer bracket.
(3) Lower vehicle.
(4) In st all t he tran sm ission shift cable onto the
ball knob at the SLA.
(5) In st all the bott om section (2) (Fig. 163) of the
center section of instr umen t pa nel.
(6) In st all th e top section (3) (Fig. 164) of the cen-
ter section of in st rument panel.
(7) Verify repa ir.
