The tra nsmission oil tem perature sensor (1) (Fig.
238) is locat ed in the shell of th e electric valve con -
trol unit and is fixed to t he conductor tra cks.
It s pur pose is to mea su re the t empera ture of the
transmission oil and pass the tempera ture t o the
TCM as an input signal. It is a tem perat ure-depen -
dent resistor (PTC).
OPERAT I ON
PARK / NEUTRAL CONTACT
In selector lever position s “P” a nd “N” t he park/
neut ral con tact (4) (Fig. 239) is a ctuat ed by a ca m
track which is located on th e detent plate. The per-
manen t magnet (3) is m oved a way from th e dry-reed
contact (4). The dry-reed contact (4) is opened. The
TCM receives an electric sign al. The circuit to t he
st arter in the selector lever positions $P” and “N” is
closed.
TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE SENSOR
The tempera ture of the tr ansmission oil ha s a con -
siderable effect on the shiftin g time and therefore the
sh ift qua lity. By mea su ring the oil temperatur e, sh ift
operat ions ca n be optimized in a ll tem perat ure
ranges. The tra nsmission oil temper ature sensor (1)
(Fig. 240) is switched in series with the pa rk/n eutr al
contact. The temper ature signa l is tr ansfer red to th e
TCM only when t he dry-r eed contact of the pa rk/n eu-
tral cont act is closed in RE VERSE or a forwa rd gear
position .
