REAR BLOWER MOTOR SWITCH
Before testing the rea r blower motor switch , verify
that the fr ont A/C syst em is functiona l by perform ing
the ATC Fuct ion Test using the DRBIII! sca n tool.
Use a volt/oh mmet er to test th e rear blower mot or
switch . For circuit descriptions a nd diagram s, refer
to the appropriate wirin g infor mation. The wir ing
information inclu des wir ing diagr ams, proper wire
and con nector r epair procedures, details of wire har-
ness r outing a nd r etent ion, connector pin-ou t infor-
mation and location views for the various wir e
harness connectors, splices an d grounds.
WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, on
vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the supple-
mental restraint system before attempting any
steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt
tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel com-
ponent diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate
the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two
minutes for the system capacitor to discharge
before performing further diagnosis or service. This
is the only sure way to disable the supplemental
restraint system. Failure to take the proper precau-
tions could result in accidental airbag deployment.
(1) Disconn ect and isolate the battery nega tive
cable.
(2) Unplug the wir e ha rness con nector from th e
rear blower motor switch .
(3) Check for continu ity between termina l 10 and
term inals 1, 7 and 4 of t he blower motor switch . In
all instances, there sh ould be continuity.
NOTE: To check the switch’s internal circuits, con-
nect the negative lead of the ohmmeter to terminal
10 and the positive ohmmeter lead to terminals 1, 7
and 4. To check the switch’s integral light emitting
diodes, reverse the ohmmeter leads.
(4) Check for continuity between th e r ear blower
motor switch term inals 3 and 7 as you m ove the
blower mot or switch to each of the two speed posi-
tions, and t he Off position . Ther e should be con tin u-
ity in only on e blower motor switch speed position.
(5) Check for continuity between th e r ear blower
motor switch term inals 4 and 8 as you m ove the
blower mot or switch to each of the two speed posi-
tions, and t he Off position . Ther e should be con tin u-
ity in only the ot her blower mot or swit ch speed
position .
(6) If OK, test and repa ir the r ear blower motor
switch wire ha rness circuits. If n ot OK, repla ce the
faulty rear blower motor switch .

REMOVAL).
(3) Disconn ect the wire ha rness connector from th e
rear A/C blower motor switch (Fig. 14).
(4) Disengage the retainin g t abs and rem ove the
rear A/C blower m otor swit ch from the accessory
switch panel.
