(11) Sepa rat e the lower ball joint fr om the kn uckle
using specia l tool 9282.
(12) Remove the lower contr ol arm nu ts a nd bolts
from the fram e.
(13) Remove the lower con trol arm from th e fram e
(Fig. 9).
NOTE: To avoid damaging the transverse leaf
spring, cushion the pad on the jack accordingly.
(14) Support the t ransverse leaf sprin g in th e cen-
ter with a ja ck.
(15) Remove the left and right spring clamp plat es
(Refer to 2 - SUSP ENSION/FRONT/SP RING CLAMP
PLATES - REMOVAL) (F ig. 9).
NOTE: The upper spring blocks between the engine
cradle and the spring are color coded, Make sure
not to mix the blocks per sides. The blocks are dif-
ferent in sizes to accommodate the weight of the
vehicle and driver in order for the vehicle to sit
level.
(16) Lower the ja ck a nd rem ove the transverse lea f
spring towards t he side.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: To avoid damaging the transverse leaf
spring, cushion the pad on the jack accordingly.
NOTE: Hand tighten all bolts until vehicle is on the
ground, unless the bushings may become distorted.
NOTE: The height blocks between the engine cradle
and the spring are color coded, Make sure not to
mix the blocks per sides. The blocks are different in
sizes to accommodate the weight of the vehicle and
driver in order for the vehicle to sit level.
(1) In st all the t ransverse lea f spring in th e cen ter
with a jack with all t he rubber mou nts at tach ed.
(2) In st all t he lower control arm to the fra me (Fig.
9).
(3) In st all the kn uckle on th e lower ball j oint.
(4) Raise the lower control arm approxima tely 10
mm wit h a jack.
(5) In st all both stop pla te bolts to the lower con trol
arm
(6) In st all the strut bolts to the st eering knu ckle.
(7) Reinstall the tie rod to the steerin g knu ckle
(Fig. 9). Tighten to 150 N·m (110 ft. lbs.).
(8) In st all the ABS sensor all the wa y into th e
st eering knu ckle, the sensor will adjust aut omatically
when th e veh icle is moved (Fig. 9).
(9) In st all the disc brake ca liper adapter (Fig. 9).
Tighten t o 170 N·m (125 ft . lbs.).
(10) Install the front wh eels.
(11) Lower th e vehicle.
(12) Install the sprin g cla mp plat es (F ig. 9).
Tighten (M-10 bolts) to 65 N·m (48 ft . lbs.) (M-12
bolts) to 130 N·m (96 ft. lbs.).
(13) Roll the vehicle approximat ely 1 mm forwa rds
and the backwards, and r ock firmly.
(14) Tighten the n uts on the lower control a rm to
the fr ame to 150 N·m (110 ft. lbs.).
(15) Apply brake to actuate br ake pressur e.
SPRI N G CLAM P PLAT ES
REMOVAL
(1) Raise and support the vehicle.
(2) In st all a jack under the lower ball joint an d
lower the weigh t of t he v ehicle enough t o allow a
wrench between t he lower cont rol arm and the
bracket tigh ten the nut.
(3) Remove the fron t a nd r ear bolts to t he spr ing
clam p plates.
(4) Remove the four in ner reta ining bolts and
nuts.
