DESCRIPTION
NOTE: Camber and Caster are not adjustable on
this vehicle. (TOE ONLY).
NOTE: Suspension components with rubber/ure-
thane bushings should be tightened with the vehi-
cle at normal ride height. It is important to have the
springs supporting the weight of the vehicle when
the fasteners are torqued. If springs are not at their
normal ride position, vehicle ride comfort could be
affected and premature bushing wear may occur.
Wheel alignment involves the correct positionin g of
the wheels in r elat ion to th e vehicle. The position ing
is accomplished th rough suspen sion and steer ing
lin kage adjustm ents. An alignment is considered
essential for efficient steerin g, good directional sta bil-
ity a nd to minimize tir e wear. Th e most import ant
measu remen ts of an alignmen t are caster, cam ber
and toe (Fig. 1).
CAUTION: Never attempt to modify suspension or
steering components by heating or bending.
DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING - PRE - ALIGNMENT
INSPECTION
Before starting wheel a lignment, the following
inspection and necessa ry corrections must be com-
pleted. Refer to Suspen sion and Steer ing System
Diagnosis Char t below for a ddition al inform ation.
(1) In spect tir es for size, air pressure and tr ead
wea r.
(2) In spect fr ont wheel bea rings for wear.
(3) In spect front wh eels for excessive radial or lat-
eral runout an d bala nce.
(4) In spect ba ll st uds, linkage pivot points and
st eering gear for looseness, roughn ess or binding.
(5) In spect suspen sion components for wear and
noise.
(6) Road test t he vehicle.
