9 When replacing the pipette assembly, it will be necessary to align the pipette to
the base plate using the Pipette alignment jig (jig number PMFIX014, or jig
number PMFIX017A for field replacement). The base plate should be mounted on
the jig as shown in Figure 7-12. The pipette alignment jig should be positioned on
the base plate in the reagent rack location.

To Align the Pipette:
1 Loosen the four screws for adjustment in the X plane.
2 Loosen the two screws for adjustment in the Y plane.
3 Gently move the X arm, Y arm, and pipette until the pipette is inserted in the jig.
The pipette base plate should fit evenly in the jig when you are ready to proceed
to the next step.
4 Tighten the two clamps to secure the pipette firmly to the jig.
5 Remove each of the six adjustment screws (one at a time) and then re-install and
tighten each screw using Loctite 222.
6 Release the clamp, and ensure that the pipette bottom plate is parallel to the
fixture. If the pipette bottom plate is not parallel to the fixture, readjust as outlined
above.
7 Remove the fixture from the system.
