Removal procedures
Parts removal and replacement procedures are described in this chapter.
Note: Parts are controlled as spare parts. When servicing parts for which no procedure is described,
observe the assembly before starting the service.
Note: Though the optional parts are assumed to be removed, they may not be removed if not required for
the purpose of service.
Before starting service work
Note: A wide variety of screws are used; make note of their positions during service.
CAUTION—SHOCK HAZARD:
Remove the power cord from the electrical outlet and then from the printer before connecting or
disconnecting any cable, assembly, or electronic board. This is a precaution for personal safety
and to prevent damage to the printer. Disconnect any connections between the printer and PCs/
peripherals.
CAUTION—POTENTIAL INJURY:
The printer weighs approximately 75 kg (165 lbs) and requires two or more trained personnel to lift
it safely. Make sure your fingers are not under the printer when you lift or set the printer down.
CAUTION—HOT SURFACE:
The inside of the printer might be hot. To reduce the risk of injury from a hot component, allow the
surface to cool before touching.
