I. Functional Check
After assembly, do the functional test of the alternator.
Test Case 1:
a. Measure the resistance of the excitation winding.
Connect one terminal of the multimeter to
the excitation winding (terminal L)
Connect the other terminal of the
multimeter to the alternator housing.
If the resistance is more than 5.0 Ohm:
- Turn the pulley
- Examine the brush holder assembly for incorrect installation.
Measure the resistance again.
If the value is again more than 5.0 Ohm,
replace the alternator.
If the excitation winding resistance is more than 10.0 Ohm, the brushes are defect or
not released.
Examine the brush holder for correct
assembly.
If the brush holder is correctly assembled,
measure the winding resistance again.
If the winding resistance is more than 10.0
Ohm, replace the alternator.
