(a) Visual Inspection
Detail Steps/Work Items
Key Items/References
Do the visual inspection before you clean the two-mass flywheel.
(1)
Visually examine the two-mass flywheel for
any signs of thermal damage at the rear side
and at the outer cover.
If you find signs of damage, replace
the two-mass-flywheel.
(2)
Friction control cam (E4A-73-212-402) check:
Examine the inner of the two-mass flywheel
for thermal effect (remaining molten plastic
between the primary and secondary mass).
If you find signs of thermal effect,
replace the two-mass-flywheel.
Refer to Fig. 85 - 50.
(3)
Do the friction control cam check again after
the mechanical inspection.
Because of the rotation during the
mechanical inspection, the part of
the friction control cam below the
cover is in the position at the back
side holes of the primary mass.
(4)
Examine the rivet head for signs of wear.
Refer to Fig. 85 - 51.
The possible interference between
the inner components of the primary
mass with the rivets that connect the
primary with the secondary mass
can cause wear of the rivet head.
(5)
If you find wear signs on the rivet head, do a
visual and dimensional inspection:
Refer to Fig. 85 - 52.
Measure only the worn surface of
the rivet head.
