85-40-00 Reciprocating Engine - Rear section
1. V-Ribbed Belt
Do not lubricate the V-Ribbed belt.
A. Remove the V-Ribbed Belt

(1)
Move the V-belt tensioner pulley clockwise to
release the tension on the belt.
Turn the screw on the tensioner
pulley.
Refer the Fig. 85 - 133.
(2)
Lock the tensioner pulley with a locking pin.
Refer to Fig. 85 - 134.
(3)
Remove the V-Ribbed belt.
Refer the Fig. 85 - 133.
B. Install the V-Ribbed belt

The V-Ribbed belt routing must be as in Fig. 85 - 133.
No other routing is permitted!
The ribbed side of the belt must point internally.
The ribs of the belt must engage the rills of the wheel.
The belt must be within the limits of the wheel.
(1)
Put the V-Ribbed belt on the pulleys.
Refer the Fig. 85 - 133.
(2)
Move the belt tensioner arm clockwise.
Turn the screw on the tensioner
pulley.
Refer the Fig. 85 - 133.
(3)
Remove the locking pin.
Refer to Fig. 85 - 134.
The correct V-Ribbed belt tension will be set automatically.
(4)
Do an engine ground run.
Refer to 71-00-01.
