F. Clean the Two-Mass Flywheel
Clean the two-mass flywheel after the visual inspection is completed!
Make sure that the cleaning agent or grease-dissolving materials do not get to
the inner of the two-mass flywheel.
It is not permitted to clean the two-mass flywheel in a part washing machine,
with a steam-, or a high-pressure cleaner!
Use a cloth with WD40 to clean the surfaces of the two-mass flywheel.
You can clean the contact surfaces to the crankshaft and to the hub (E4A-73-
000-203) from surface rust and dust.
The rust at the surface of the two-mass flywheel does not have an effect on its
function. It is sufficient to clean the surface with a dry Scotch-Brite hand pad
from light surface corrosion.
It is important to clean the surfaces at the connecting flanges.
Clean the engine side flange:
- Apply WD40 on the surface of the
flange with light pressure.
- Remove the rust with a Scotch-Brite
hand pad.
Use WD40 and a cleaning cloth.
Clean the gearbox side flange:
- Apply WD40 on the surface of the
flange with light pressure.
- Remove the rust with a Scotch-Brite
hand pad.
Use WD40 and a cleaning cloth.
